ID: 264 Category: General & Other Status: Resolved Views: 2982

Question:
I am trying to understand your benchmark portfolio results in your newsletter. Please define the parameters you use:

Total Cost
Total Market Value
Starting Basis
Cash
Return On Account %
Total Portfolio Value $
Total Realized Gain/Loss $ and %

Thanks.

Solution:
Total Costs - The cost to purchase the underlying LEAPs or stock minus the income from the sale of calls.

Total Market Value - The current market value of the underlying stock or LEAPs minus the market value of the sold calls.

Starting Basis - The amount of capital the portfolio was started with.

Cash - Amount in $ of the portfolio held in cash.

Return on Account % - The Total value of the account as a % return against the Starting Basis.

Total Portfolio Value $ - The total value of the portfolio (Market Value + Cash)

Total Realized Gain/Loss $ and % - The actual $ amount that has been returned from closed positions in $ and as a percentage against the Starting Basis.
